THE TRICKY ART OF WEARING LEATHER SHORTS

Mong Kok. The most populated neighborhood in the world, located in Kowloon. It's is known for its light panels and its crowd. On weekend, you barely can walk there because of the number of people in the streets. The effervescence. The colors. And so many more reasons why I picked this iconic area of Hong Kong to shoot a silhouette featuring leather shorts.

If you're like me and you love leather, then you'll know that styling leather shorts is pretty tricky. It's very easy to cross lines with leather shorts and turn a so-called stylish outfit into a monument to vulgarity. Also some people's opinions and judgements can be difficult to handle, therefore it requires a certain amount of confidence. And a bit of "I don't give a flying f***" vibe.

When I decided to style leather shorts, I picked the most amazing and eccentric ones. You thought I would pick the classics black ones? Well, no. No. No. I picked some colorful and motorsport inspired Zadig & Voltaire leather shorts. I styled them with studded sandals and an oversized Gucci t-shirt.

To style leather shorts, I recommend you to follow one simple rule. If you decide to go "sexy" on top and bottom, tone the silhouette down by wearing flat shoes, such as sneakers or flat sandals. If instead you add heels to the shorts, pick an oversized top. It's like walking on a thin line between style and vulgarity. Everything is a matter of balance.

I clearly pick the second option when I styled that look. The Gucci t-shirt is actually the key element of this look because it brings the tomboyish attitude I aimed at while keep the sport inspired vibe of the leather shorts.

#DETAILSMATTER

1. Choose a fit and length that match your body type

2. Choose a color of leather that makes you feel comfortable and confident.

3. Pay attention to the leather - makes sure that it is not too fragile or low quality. You should be able to wear it easily and looking fabulous!

4. I recommend you keep the makeup low key to tone down the sexy vibe of the outfit.

5. Always make sure to balance the leather shorts by toning them down with a looser and chiller element, such as sneakers or an oversized top.

6. Pay attention to the little tiny details of the overall outfit to create an harmonious look.
