Statement.

A word that can mean everything and nothing. Related to fashion it is synonym of impactant, something that you'll remember. A look. Overtime, a lot of people have asked me what is the trick to pull out a statement outfit. The answer is the following: there is no recipe!

However there are some keys to achieve it, from following your instinct to be confident in your creativity and pay attention to the details (yes again!). I believe that everyone one of us is capable to come up with the right idea and to recreate it one dressing. It just comes down to how well do you know your self and your style.

There is a thin border between creating a statement look and being dressed up! This is the reason why I thought about giving you some tips on how I usual create mine. Once again, what works for you might be slightly different from what works for me. Therefore try to apply the guidelines that will do the job for you. Everything is a matter of subjectivity in the end.

1. Pull out of your closet clothes that have a strong "character" (original fabrics, shapes, pattern, colors,...) and try to associate two of them.

2. Complete the look with a basic element to tone it down a bit (jeans, black clothes, t-shirt,...)

3. Try the look to make sure the proportions are harmonious. If not, take something out or try to find new associations.

4. Make sure your makeup as the same vibe than the rest of the look.

5. Be an apologetic. There is nothing worse than someone wearing the best look ever but is excusing itself for it. You are wearing the clothes not the way round!
