IT BAG: HOW TO CREATE A LOOK BASED ON A STATEMENT BAG
IT BAG ALERT! You have a new gorgeous and fabulous bag and you want to show off a bit. Obviously... This post is for you then, because I am going to give you all my tips and tricks to create the perfect outfit matching your precious bag and, overall, enhancing your style. Are you ready for it my dear? Yes? Then what are we waiting for? Let's get into it!
First of all, what is a it bag? Well, it is a statement bag. The kind of purses that are showstopper. You know that wow effect... they are able to create it by themselves! Usually, they are luxury bags, but not everytime. You can find really affordable ones that are stunning and really make the difference! This is actually the key: making the difference. Impress, don't be impress my darling.
On a more personal level, I consider my bags as precious as my jewels. They are not supposed to be worn one season and then trashed the moment after. No way! I would love for my future children to inherit of them, for example. To me, they are lifelong buddies. A bit materialistic? Maybe, but this my point of view. You can share it or not.
To get back to the main subject of this post, having a statement bag is awesome, but a gorgeous bag don't make an outfit one-of-a-kind. People will say: "Oh, nice bag.", not "she is drop dead gorgeous, and look at the bag!"
I am sure you get my point. So here are my tips and tricks to create a perfect silhouette based on a statement bag!
#DETAILSMATTER
#1. Be coherent: The style of your bag should set the tone of the entire silhouette. You have two option: embrace it or contrast with it. Either way some elements should guideline the outfit: colors, metallic fabric - a silver bag with a gold outfit is a no go! -, proportions or textures. For example, when I styled the look pictured, I decided to keep the green and the structure as key elements. So I selected a light green jumper that enhanced the bag while contrasting with its shade. Concerning the structure, I put on high heels and a nicely flounced skirt.
#2. Harmony is in the details: Details are the only thing that can take your style to the next level - this section is not called #DETAILSMATTER for nothing my dear! To create a harmonious outfit and fluidity between the clothes, accessories and bags, you have to make sure some elements are echoing to each others. For example, to recall the buckle of the bag, I selected snake-texturized black shoes. Classy but different - remember! To complete the accessories, I added a nice pair of black earrings - winking at the color of the shoes!
#3. With or without: This is going to sound ridiculous. But sometimes the most obvious things are the ones we forget the easiest. Your silhouette should be effective with or without the statement bag! This is why I was saying that the bag alone is not enough to make you look fabulous. The outfit should be able to exist by itself, even though it was created to match the bag. For example, the style showcased on the pictures is really "working girl" and is already something by itself. Your outfits should always look gorgeous, even with one element off. You have to live in them - unless you're a statue!
#4. Look confident, be confident: Creating an outstanding outfit has one consequence. You will attract people's attention. So you better be ok with it - and prepared for it -, especially if you're kind of shy. I would say it requires training. The more you'll attract people's attention in the street, the less you'll care about it. A good way to feel confident in an outfit is to have a great makeup - even a nude one - to complete the look. At least if you're not super confident about your outfit, you'll be overconfident about your face!
... And you're good to go!
