STATEMENT COAT: WEARING A KILLER DESIGNER PIECE

STATEMENT COAT: WEARING A KILLER DESIGNER PIECE

Have you ever fallen instantly in love with an item clothing? What kind? Personally, I am attracted by statement pieces. And when I do fall in love with clothes, I become obsessed. Literally obsessed by it! I know what you are wondering: what is the matter? The issue lays in how to integrate the statement item to your closet.

I love designer clothes. They are fierce and so creative. Wearing them takes confidence, but when you manage to do so you feel amazing, while attracting people attention. This what I call a statement piece. The kind of clothes that change your game and takes your style to an all other level. Just remember the key rule for wearing a statement item of clothing: OWN IT, DON'T LET IT OWN YOU! Basically, be at ease wearing it. Otherwise, you will get side eyes instead of people admiration - just saying!

Lately, I discovered this wonderful designer brand, called Paskal, who creates poetic clothes. I fell in love with a violet coat. So what did I do? I decided to style a silhouette showcasing my own way to wear statement clothes.

Here is my way to wear a statement item of clothing. And remember: Details Matter!

If this style inspires you and you want to reproduce it or part of it, here are some tricks and tips.

Go off the beaten track: It easy to wear a statement item of clothing with a black or super fitted silhouette. So if you are not really confident or used to wear that kind of clothes, go for this option. For those who are more confident, I recommend you choose more complicated options. Either with contrasting colors or with more elaborated shapes. For example, when I styled this silhouette, I chose oversized overalls. Even though, it is black, it is unusual. I completed the whole look with a transparent black top to created a kind of element of surprise. The surprise avoid the silhouette to look featureless. To sump up ? Be playful! Fashion should always be a game.

Play with the accessories: You know it by now, details are the key to an outstanding outfit. One of the easiest way to take your style to another level is using accessories. With statement clothes, you can go both ways. First option? Putting on as many accessories as you can. The aim is to create a controlled mess in the baroque spirit. The second one? A statement accessory. Clearly, when I styled this look, I went for the second option: with a large gold bracelet which contrasts with the different elements of the silhouette.

What about the makeup?: It definitely needs to be adapted to the masterpiece you're wearing. If you don't know what kind of make up to do, go for the safe option: nude. It will avoid you to look vulgar or uncomfortable. For this particular look, I decided to go for smooth bronze tones. I created a flawless stain and just added a bit of bronze eyeshadow, a black khôl, a black mascara and light pink lipstick. To perfect the beauty style, I applied a thin line of silver pencil at the roots of the eyelashes, to put more emphasis on the eyes.
