JUMPSUIT x KIMONO: HOW TO MATCH THEM TO CREATE A PERFECT EVENING SILHOUETTE

Evening. Time to shine. Time to stand out. Creating the perfect evening outfit can be tricky. You have plenty options. Maybe too much. My mission, should I accept it, is to elaborate a go-to silhouette that you can recreate easily? Mission accepted!

When I think about an evening outfit, I generally picture minimalistic lines and dark colors. Elegance. Maybe it is because I am French, and that French love dark colors. Actually they are a good way to make the details stand out. Shall they be a nice makeup, breathtaking accessories,...

Another think I love about evening silhouettes is that they allow you to be dramatic. Come on we all love drama, don't we?

This being said. I had to take the drama and the dark colors into consideration when creating the outfit. So I started to pick the element that I will base the whole look on. A jumpsuit. But not every jumpsuit. A black minimalistic one. Not to short but still revealing my legs. I love my legs by the way!

A black jumpsuit is a good basic to have in your wardrobe. It can be worn by night or by day. It always gives you sass without being too revealing.

Now that I had my black element, I had to bring the drama on. And if there one dramatic  piece of clothing I am OCDed about, it's the kimono. Therefore, I obviously selected a long silk embroidered kimono, which would float behind me when I walk. So dramatic !

Finally, an evening outfit would not be an evening outfit without heels. To complete my silhouette, I choose studded black and white sandals. Perfect element to match the kimono and jumpsuit combo.

A total go-to silhouette, easy to recreate, just for you my darling. Here are all the details to take into consideration when creating this silhouette!

If you want to reproduce this look, here are some tips and tricks for you.

Proportions are the key: To succeed in elaborating a fabulous evening outfit, you need to balance the elements showing your body with more covering piece of clothing. It is the key to look edgy and elegant. This is the role played by the kimono. It tones down the sassiness of the jumpsuit, also adding a touch of mystery to the global silhouette.

Play with the textures: To avoid a flat visual impression, I recommend you add textures to your silhouette. For example, in my look, I choose an embroidered kimono and studded sandals to give dimensions to the minimalist jumpsuit.

Accessories or how to take the drama to the next level: Like always, the fabulosity is in the details. Accessories are major details, that you shall not neglect. There is no need to wear plenty - unless you want to give the impression you rob a jewelry! You just have to select the game changing ones. When I created this silhouette, I picked bicolor 60's-inspired sunnies and a light blue cuff made of porcelain. Both giving an edgy and precious touch to the look. Easy don't you think ?

What about the makeup?: When it comes to the makeup, I would recommend to match the overall silhouette inspiration and colors. For example, my silhouette has a retro vibe, but also metallic elements. So I decided to incorporate them in my makeup look. I did a nude stain first. Then, I applied a light pink lipstick. Concerning the eyes, I drew a silver line at the roots of the eyelashes. It is this line that it is inspired by the retro and metallic elements. Finally, I put some black mascara to create a babydoll effect.
