MINI SKIRT & BOMBER: HOW TO TWIST A SPORTWEAR-INSPIRED LOOK
When it comes to create a silhouette, I truly believe in the effectiveness of hijacking styles. Personally, I am not fond off total and self-evident looks. It is just too easy! We all love easy stuff, but when talking about fashion it is not the best option to look uber stylish. So what can we do to twist styles?
What I mean by twisting is taking the elements of diverse styles to inspire you a new look. I can be tricky, obviously! If you go crazy and mix too many styles, you'll probably end up looking like a clown. Totally your call here, but I will deny all responsibilities if you look like a psycho who escaped an asylum - just saying!
As an example, I style a hijacked sportswear silhouette - just for you my darling! Sportswear is trending at the moment. Advantage? You can stole this look right now and look fabulous. To create this look, I first asked my self what sportswear elements I wanted to compose it. I selected a oversized bomber and sneakers - but not regular ones, the fanciest ones, remember DETAILS MATTER!
Now that I had the sportswear part, with what should I have completed the look? I thought why not mix totally opposite styles and bring in some classy textures. You know how much I loooove textures! So I chose a silk leopard printed black shirt and a padded mini skirt made of satin, studs and leather. To sum up, I mixed sportswear elements with more classy and rock ones.
Here are all the details to create a silhouette made of diverse inspiration!

If this style inspires you and you want to reproduce it or part of it, here are some tricks and tips.
Pay attention to the proportion: Proportions are one of the keys to create a stylish look. This particular outfit is composed of an oversized bomber, a mini skirt, a shirt and sneakers. The goal here was to balance the shortness of the mini skirt with oversized aspect of the bomber. The sneakers help to offset the femininity - or is it sexiness? - of the skirt.
Play with the textures: When mixing styles, you need to choose wisely the textures of the elements of the silhouette. For example, the silk shirt is printed and the padded mini skirt is made of silver studs, stain and leather. Those textures are either precious, soft or attract the light. Keep in mind that some elements should balance each other to be harmonious. If you have the feeling you toned down too much your outfit or that it is still too overdressed, it means that it is not well balanced and you need take something off.
Do not neglect the accessories: As you might know by now, the accessories are the key to twist an outfit and to make it look even more awesome than it already is. Just remember that the accessories don't need to be plenty make a statement. For example, when I created this look, I selected a gold ring and metallic sunglasses. The idea? Give a little bling to a mainly black outfit.
What about the makeup?: For this look, I recommend you go for lips. However, if you prefer to go for the eyes, than go for it! For this particular outfit, I chose to focus on my lips. The important point is to work on you stain. So it will be flawless! I chose to apply a red lipstick. I wanted a "bitten lips" effect. So I put it with my finger to create the faded aspect I looked for.
