3 WAYS TO WEAR OVER THE KNEE BOOTS & LOOK A-MA-ZING!
This is one of the major, if not the major trend of the Fall/Winter 2017. I am not fond of the word "trend", it kind of lost its meaning over the years. Too many, too often. You can lose you mind trying to keep up!
However, I love over-the-knee boots - as you can see it in the Unleash The Inner Vamp post. Lately, I bought sueded ones. I am totally addict to shoes. I got over a 100 and I keep buying new ones - it must be an OCD!
Before starting to talk about how to wear over the knee boots, I have some questions for you, my dear. What do you think about over the knee boots? Are they dope? Are they vulgar? Easy to style or completely getting you crazy? One way or another, I am sure you have your opinion on this particular issue.
If there is one thing true about over the knee boots is that they almost come back every Fall/Winter season either in suede or in leather. So, if you want some, see them as an investment and buy over the knee boots that will last - that's my cheap me talking right now, in case you were wondering!
For this post dedicated to over the knee boots, I decided to style three very different silhouettes to show the multiples options that comes with these shoes and how easy it to look dope with them. They fit with almost everything as long as you pay attention to proportions. Here are the ways I styled my over the knee boots!
#DETAILSMATTER:
If these styles inspires you and you want to reproduce it or part of it, here are some tricks and tips.
WITH DENIM:
For the first silhouette, I decided to play with the textures and the black and blue colors. I chose a regular denim not too dark or too light, to create contrast but keeping the casual shade of the fabric. I added a black faux-fur jacket that established a parallel with the black suede boots.
Concerning the accessories, I selected an embellished necklace, I positioned under the denim shirt's collar. The idea was to break the raw aspect of the vintage fabric of the top. The necklace added to the faux-fur jacket enhance the "precious" shade that clashes with the denim.
WITH A STATEMENT TOP:
For the second style, as it is all about wearing over the knee boots with a statement top, I had to select one and build the whole look around it. I chose a loose and printed blue t-shirt. As the fabric was pretty fluide and the pattern was very present, I decided to go with black. Why? Because it a no brainer, my dear! Oh, and yes I was looking for a dramatic silhouette and black is an obvious choice when you're aiming to obtain this result.
What about the accessories? I wanted to keep it simple, but significant. I selected a black tweed boater that I positioned on the back of my head. My idea was to give the impression I had a halo over my head. Told you: drama!
WITH A SKIRT:
For the third outfit, I decided to go for the tricky option: wearing a skirt or a dress with over the knee boots. Many of us, I am sure, have seen some celebs wearing those heels with short skirts and we probably ask ourselves if it was ok to do the same in our everyday life. My answer is: yes if you feel confident. You should always feel yourself when wearing an outfit - or a better version of yourself - and not like you are impersonating someone. Do you know why? People will see that you're not feel comfortable and won't be impressed at all. So, if you are confident go for it, but adapt the outfit to your style, don't be a copycat. When I chose the skirt, I wanted it to end where my over the knee boots were starting. So I selected an embroidered black sueded skirt that was long enough to do the job.
To complete the silhouette, I decided to go with a burgundy velvet bomber. I liked the soft aspect that recalled the suede of the boots and the skirt. The color did an echo to the embroidery of the bottom. Moreover, I wanted a boyish shade to oppose to the femininity of the skirt. I also decided not to add accessories. My idea was to style a day outfit. By not putting on accessories I tone the whole look a bit down making it easier to wear by day.
