POST-NEW YEAR'S EVE SPARKLES: HOW TO WEAR GLITTER BY DAY

Happy New Year! I am so glad to enter in this new year, but I have an issue. Yes an issue, guys! And you may have it too. What to do with the glittery outfits and clothes (skirts, dresses, pants, jackets and cosmetics) we bought for the New Year's Eve?

Actually, there are plenty options: sell them, put them in the back of your closet and forget them, give them back to the people who lend them to you or find a way to wear them all year long. I'll let you guess which option is mine. Let's be honest. I always find a way to wear all my clothes, even the most fancy ones, anytime in the year. I am 100% addicted to fashion - don't judge me, because you are probably obsessed with something else: chocolate, contouring, cats, babies... I mean we are all free to develop OCDs on particular subjects, as long as you feel ok with it go ahead guys!

I am really wondering why people are so scared to wear glitter by day and so excited to recover themselves of it by night. This is awkward, don't you think? If some of you have a clue or an answer to this question feel free to express yourself in the comment section! I also have noticed that the way to wear glitters is different according to the country you're from. I may be wrong, but I do have the impression that in the US and UK it is like super normal to wear glitters by day and night all year long. However, in France, except if it is in small touches, glitters are only worn for partying.

Therefore, to show how easy it to wear glitters by day, I decided to create an outfit and make-up style full of sparkles! Here is my way to style glitter for a day outfit!

#DETAILSMATTER:

If this style inspires you and you want to reproduce it or part of it, here are some tricks and tips.

Mix textures carefully: Before anything, glitters are a texture. And you know how much I love to play with textures, guys! For this style, I have picked a glittery skirt that I mixed with leather on the boots and faux-fur on the jacket. The tip is to create somehow an harmony. This way the glitters are integrated and not showing off too much. The shades of the glitter also matters: metallic ones, such as the silver on my skirt, are the easiest to mix and match with other textures. However, really colorful ones, such as the reds or blues, demand more structure in your outfit and less extravagant colors and textures.

Twist your outfit: You don't want to look like you're coming back from a party all day long, with people asking you how it was, do you? No, no, no. I know what question just popped in your brain: How should you wear the glitters? One answer: with a twist! But not every twist, the one that corresponds to your daily life style. Are you classic, preppy, rock, edgy? Only you got the answer. I only can show you my personal example. I wear a lot of black and kind of rocky-styled outfits, so organically I twisted my glitter this way. I put on a faux-fur perfecto-inspired jacket, metallic accessories, a Rolling Stones t-shirt and leather combat boots. Just be true to yourself. Don't impersonate someone else!

Pay attention to the accessories: When styling this outfit, I selected a few rings and necklaces and a bag. Not too complicated, but efficient. To not be too simple and classic, I mixed different metals: gold, rose gold, carbon and silver. Concerning the rings, I mixed two different shades of rings: a vintage silver ring and a texturized gold rose ring. I also picked two necklaces: boxing gloves and a skull, respectively in silver and carbon (worn around my wrist on the picture below). This idea is to create a bit of a mess. As I wanted to give a rock'n'roll shade to this silhouette, I needed a little chaos going on. Just keep in mind the kind of look you want. When it comes to the bag, I chose a classic, an timeless one: the Kate bag of Saint Laurent, in sueded texture and with gold chain and fringe. It brings structure thanks to its square shape and movement to the silhouette when you walk in the street.

What about the make up?: Once again, here comes the tricky part. And for once, I am going hard on the make-up. After taking care of the stain with some cushion, I did a little strobing by highlighting the T zone of my face. Why? To give my structure and strength to the heavy make-up coming after this. What's next? Put a nude eyeshadow on your eyelids to unify the shade, before applying some black eyeliner and mascara. You can choose whatever eyeliner line shape you want. Personally, I opted for a cat eye one. To complete the strong and black look, put some black khôl under the eyes. Then, comes the best part: the glitter lips! Yes you read well. So to do a glitter lips, as there are not really products easy to find, you have to create it. Don't be scared! It is super easy. You'll just need a lip balm to hydrate before applying some red lipstick. The red lipstick should be as close as the glitters shade to create an homogenous style. Before the lipstick dries put the glitters in small touches with your index. Finally, take the excess of glitter off with a tissue. And you're good to go!
