BLUE & GOLD: HOW TO MIX & MATCH COLORS IN ONE MAKEUP STYLE

BLUE & GOLD: HOW TO MIX & MATCH COLORS IN ONE MAKEUP STYLE

It's holiday season. So what does it mean? Celebrations! I am sure you want to look sensational either to outstand your cousins on Christmas or to show off your style on New Year's Eve. Anyway you want to overrule the competition and be like "all eyes on me"! If this is what you're looking for, you will be all set after reading this post. If not, read it too! The beauty style is a killer one and you don't want to miss it!

So for those who read the previous beauty post, you know that I already have created a look that could be useful during the festivities. Guess what this one is easier to do and will make you look one of a kind. This time gold goes on your lips! You said unique? Of course my dear, what is the point of being like everyone else.

First of all? Let me ask you a question: is using gold on your lips a challenging idea for you? Yes? Why is it scaring you? Because it is unusual or you don't want to look like a streetwalker? - its my inner Joan Rivers talking.

Here is my answer: Have a little faith in you darling. I am sure you will look lovely with gold lips! In the end this is just makeup: if you don't like this style on you, it's 100% okay! Just remove it and do a different look. Remember what I am telling you in almost my post, the most important thing is that you feel like yourself. Life is not an act, you have to leave without pretending. Makeup, clothes help you to express your personality, not to hide it!

Let's go back to this beauty style, gold is a beautiful, strong color. On your lips, it will catch the light. However, there is a trick - yeah I know what you're thinking... but when there is a trick, there is a tip! By attracting the light and the eyes on your lips, gold might overpower your eyes a bit too much and make you look dull. This is where I come up with this brilliant tip: use a bright-colored pencil under the eyes!

The idea is to balance the gold with another matching color that would be applied below the eyes in small touches. For example, I used a bright blue when creating this style. Gold and blue - in almost every shades - are a perfect match. But trust me there are many others: purples, greens, burgundy,... The only mandatory thing is that the color must be intense!

Let you're lips shines!

CREATE THIS LOOK... STEP-BY-STEP

First of all, to reproduce this style, you will need: a mascara, a gold lipstick or a gold eyeshadow and some gloss, a nude eyeshadow and a bright-colored pencil. Remember it is all about intensity!

STEP 1: The first thing you have to do is your stain. I recommend to do a light and natural one that will just avoid your skin to shine too much.

STEP 2: Easy one! Apply the nude eyeshadow on the eyelids. The aim is to balance the color of your skin and to avoid transfer of mascara during the day.

STEP 3: Use your mascara on the upper lashes. Curve them to widen your eyes.

STEP 4: Take your pencil. Before using it, try to straighten up your lashes underneath the eyes with a tiny wet brush. After doing this, put the color right at the roots of the lashes. Make sure the line of color is thick enough to be visible and intense.

STEP 5: Use the gold lipstick. Apply it on the lips, starting with the lower one. Put as much lipstick as you want according to the intensity you want to get.  If you do not have a gold lipstick, grab a gold eyeshadow and reproduce the same technique. To fix the gold eyeshadow on your lips, use a transparent gloss in small touches.

And...you're good to go !

If this style inspires you and you want to reproduce it, here are some tricks and tips.

Do some strobing: A good makeup trick that you can use on a daily basis. Use a highlighter that corresponds to your skin tone on the T-zone of you face. I personally use it to lighten my forehead and top of the nose.

What if you don't like gold shades?: You can use every metallic shades you want: silvers, coppers or bronzes. The most important thing is that you use two distinct shades that are from the same color family.

Keep it simple with the clothes: You have a bright and intense makeup style. This requires the same level of intensity when it comes to the clothes. However, do not go with a super colorful outfit! I recommend you pick one or two contrasting colors, such as dark blue or black. The outfit should let the beauty style express itself.
