PINK & RED: HOW TO MIX & MATCH THE TWO

PINK & RED: HOW TO MIX & MATCH THE TWO

We all know the rule: Pink and Red are a total no go. But you know what? It is time to break the rule. Let's find out how to mix and match pink and red to create an amazing silhouette and look stunning. Shall we?

Why mix and matching the pink and the red? Why not other colors? Simply because these are the only tones, that are super close on the color spectrum, that are usually we avoid to put together. However, we've seen in the recent fashion shows and designers collection that more and more pink and red were assembled.

I thought it would be a great idea to address this trend and to give you some tips and tricks on how succeeding in mix and matching those two colors. And obviously look phenomenal! So I created a day outfit, based on pink ripped jeans, a detailed bomber and some black elements - I can't help myself - with the t-shirt and the boots.

Here are all the details you need to know when mix and matching red and pink!

#DETAILSMATTER

If this style inspires you and you want to reproduce it or part of it, here are some tricks and tips.

Contrast is mandatory: The key of a good mix and match of red and pink is contrast. The closer the tones and the worst it will get. So if you want to wear bright red, go for a really light, almost neutral, pink. As the red is more intense, it should always be the one you take into consideration when selecting the shade of pink. As you can see on the silhouette I created for this post, the red is slightly different from the pink.

Play with texture: Texture are always a good idea, when you want to skyrocket a look. For this silhouette, I selected a Gauchère Paris texturized bomber which really catch the eye. The motif seems to be inspire by the pointillism. And did you see? The mix between the red dots and the white create a slightly different shade of red, which allows the look to be tridimensional. Instead of having two separated areas with red and pink, it blurs a bit the boundaries between the two colors. Another element creating dimension thanks to the texture are the boots. The snake-inspired print creates a nice visual effect. Just as the ripped jeans. The main idea when creating a look is to avoid it to be boring. To do so, you can clash colors, but to create multi-dimension is essential. Without it, your silhouette will seem flat - and we clear don't want that ! Textures and flaws, such as ripped jeans, are a good option to give that interesting effect.

What about the makeup?: With such a mix of colors, I recommend you go for a beauty look focused on the eyes. Concerning the eyeshadows, I would go for browns. Why? First because they contrast with bright colors and also they are more toned down shades. The other reason is the intensity. A mix and match of red and pink is a clearly intense look. So you have to go intense all the way. Otherwise your face may look a bit dull compared to the rest of the style. And there not way we look insipid darling... No way!
