LITTLE BLACK DRESS IN PARADISE: ADAPTING YOUR OUTFIT TO WHERE YOU TRAVEL

LITTLE BLACK DRESS IN PARADISE: ADAPTING YOUR OUTFIT TO WHERE YOU TRAVEL

We all love to do the most. Especially in vacation. Don't you think ? So obviously if you are a fashion lover, you just want to have crazy outfits and wear all the edgy stuffs of your closet. You want to be fabulous. Am I right? Probably! So if you're like me, and the world is your runaway, this post is made for you.

But - yes but! - there is one rule: adapt your outfits to the location. Total no brainer. It is so obvious. No ? Alright, then let me explain. If you go to the seaside, you probably pack your suitcase with swimwear, shorts and light clothes. Easy right! It is that simple. The more you travel the more nuances you will add to this rule. For example, my way to dress when I am in Paris, New York, Madrid or Phuket is different. I like to twist it a bit according to the activities planned, the culture and obviously my current mood and inspirations of the moment.

To show you exactly my point, I shot one of my favorite look when I was in St. Lucia. I wanted to wear a little black dress, but not the over-the-top one. Just an easy going dress with a twist. I chose a sportswear-inspired dress with yellow lace and white silk. To complete the silhouette, I added black and red embroidered sandals. Easy but different! Perfect for a Caribbean evening, don't you think?

Here are my advices to look fab and adapted to the places you travel to!

#1. Be simple: You are in vacation, so relax! You can either prepare your outfits before leaving your home or just go with the flow. If you choose the second option, you just have to keep it simple by minimizing the number of clothes you put on. When I created my little black dress look, I just knew I wanted to wear a dress but didn't prepared the outfit. These is why I kept the accessorize low-key and just putted a minimalistic silver bracelet.

#2. Play with colors: When you live in a city all year long and wear a lot of black, grey and dark shades, vacation are the best excuses to wear the colorful clothes of your closet. Colors, especially bright ones are a good way to stand out. Especially, if they are part of a statement clothe. They also match well with tanned skin. Just remember not to go to crazy by mixing fifteen different colors - unless you want to impersonate a clown !

#3. Take risks: By taking risks, I mean that travels may influence your way to dress. You may want to experiment new styles, silhouettes. My advice is to go for it! Unless you're visiting your family, you won't probably know anyone on your vacation spot, so don't be scared to look different.

#4. Minimalistic makeup: As I said earlier, you are in vacation. It is time to take it easy. Have this idea in mind when creating your makeup style. Go for colors, but don't try over-complicated stuff.  Don't work to much on your stain. To sum up, be natural. Sometimes makeup style with some imperfections is more charming than a flawless one. For example, when I created my makeup style I just applied a hydrating cream on my face to have a nice glow, some khôl and mascara. I completed it with an intense red lipstick to add color. And that was it!

#5. Know the activities your going to do: this way you can adapt your outfit to it. No one wants to wear a dress to do rock climb! It is a silly example but you got the point!

#6. Dig in the culture: Foreign cultures are always a huge source of inspiration. You can twist your outfits according to it. But you can also learn what are the elegance standards to avoid to have looking at you - side eye's way - during your entire holidays. Just saying!

#7 - Know the main element: It will help you create the entire outfit. It should be the piece that you absolutely want to wear!

#8. Be yourself!
