SAVED BY THE BELL: HOW TO WEAR AN 80s INSPIRED OUTFIT
The 80s are probably one of the most creative and free decade of all time. It was all about pushing back the boundaries and experimenting. That state of mind impacted deeply the fashion industry. And in a way still do. Skeptics will say that the lack of creativity is the reasons why we keep bringing back old trends. Others, of which I am, think that using the attributes and the codes of such an inspiring decade is a way to pay a tribute to its spirit but also a way to continue the creation. Isn't it true that we all get inspired by something before creating?
At least, I do. I am inspired by people, by cultures, by stuff I observe here and there. This inspiration gave me style - or a vision of style - and a creative mindset. I believe it is about being open-minded. By this, I don't mean that you should be ok with everything - no, no, no - I mean that you should be open to receive and to observe then only take what you inspires you.
This how I work towards fashion and style. I don't like everything, but I like to try new stuff and take risk. And I like brands that give you the opportunity to be disruptive. It i the case of Bimba y Lola, a Spanish brand I discover when I used to live in Madrid. Lately, I found I nice, very nice ensemble (a pencil and a top) with recall me the 80s vibes. It was colorful and playful. I couldn't resist I bought and now I showcasing it for you, my darling.
Here are all the details you may need to style a lookalike outfit.

If you want to reproduce this look, here are some tips and tricks for you.
Pay attention to proportions: Whenever you decide to wear an extremely colorful and playful outfit make sure of one thing: that the proportions enhance your body. Colors or original clothes tend to make you look larger or shorter than you really are. I good way to avoid that kind of effect is to prioritize close-to-the body clothes - unless you are tiny like a Victoria's secret model. That type of clothes will by definition enhance your shapes and curves, allowing you to look great without risking to look weird.
Balance: There is one rule when wearing colorful outfits: don't add more colors. Why? First of all, because there is no need. And secondly, unless you want to look like a clown or weird or both, it doesn't look good. My recommendation? The other elements composing your silhouette should be neutral in terms of colors. For example, I added a black leather jacket and black sneakers. But it doesn't mean they can't bring additional information. The Stan Smith I selected have snake-inspired print and the bracelet I picked has a fun shape. These are details but they are key to complete the skirt and top. Otherwise, this look would have been to contrasted: crazy on one side, flat on the other...
What about the makeup?: For this makeup, I recommend to go for a discrete but effective look. The important point is to work on you stain. It needs to be flawless. Concerning the lips, I recommend to go for nude shade. For the eyes, choose light pink with a tiny bit of metallic effect eyeshadow. If you can't find one, apply a pink or nude eyeshadow and then put a light touch of silver eyeshadow. Finish the beauty look, by applying a dark volumizing mascara. And you'll be good to go!
