PAT McGRATH'S METAMORPHOSIS 005 REVIEW & TUTORIAL

So here we are, the first ever make-up review and tutorial of 4am Journal! So excited! What a better way to inaugurate this section than reviewing and testing Pat McGrath's glam make-up kit: Metamorphosis 005.

Who's Pat McGrath? My dear, Pat McGrath is an iconic make-up artist, who created many mind-blowing beauty looks for many luxury brands (Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and many mores) and magazines (Vogue, Love, V Mag,...). She also collaborated with the finest photographers, stylists and models.

Lately, the lady nicknamed "Mother" by the fashion industry reached the million on Instagram... Guess who made an appearance in the video celebrating her success: just some randoms girls going by the names of Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Sara Sampaio, Jourdan Dunn, Alessandra Ambrosio, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Bella Hadid, Shanina Shaik, Josephine Skriver, Jasmine Sanders aka Golden Barbie, Izabel Goulart, Emilie Ratajkowski, Doutzen Kroes, Taylor Hill, Hailey Baldwin, Stella Maxwell, Elsa Hosk. Do you know how many followers it represents? Me neither, I've lost count at this point!

So this being said, what is it about this kit? Released about a month and a half ago, the Metamorphosis 005 kit is about precious metals: silver, gold, bronze and copper. These four shades are declined into creams and pigments. Ok I hear you, where is the twist, the exclusivity? The one-of-a-kind particularity of the Metamorphosis 005 kit is the Mehron mixing liquid, which when being mixed to the pigments gives the impression you literally applied liquid metal on your eyelids. Intense and so dramatic!

Since I have tried it, I just want to creates new beauty style to use the Metamorphosis shades! I even used it to create my New Year's Eve glam - seen on my Instagram! I almost forgot to mention: to complete the kit, there is an black dual-ended eyeliner. Very useful! I am addicted - I might have developed a new OCD!

How to make sure you don't look like a clown?: When you use really colorful and pigmented eyeshadows, you need to be precise. So my first advice would be to go little by little. Instead of using a lot of the shade at once, apply it in small touch. I also recommend you use brushes to be accurate. If you don't have any, it's alright! Another good tool to use, when applying colorful make-up, is a round lightened mirror - you can see me using one to check my make-up in the video. Once again is you don't have one, it's ok but check your look in a place full of light to be sure you look awesome!

How to be stable?: A really good tip, a make-up artist once gave me, is to put your little finger on your cheekbone. This way, your hand is stabilized and the application of the eyeshadows is simplified.

Why should you use eyeliner?: One word: structure! The eyeliner is structuring your look. It also gives intensity to your eyes. Use a pointed eyeliner to add subtlety. For a more dramatic and retro style, use a larger marker. Just remember the more dramatic the eyeshadows are the less dramatic and more subtle the eyeliner should be.
