STRAIGHT FROM THE RUNWAY: HOW TO STEAL FASHION WEEK BEAUTY LOOKS
Fashion Week. Two simple words that triggers so many opinions and emotion. You can either hate it or love, find it superficial or inspiring. Anyway it won't leave you indifferent. But when you are a fashion lover, these are the few times of the year your eyes are focused on the runaways. Focus and admire.
Apart from the clothes, Fashion Weeks are a good way to discover creative and innovative makeup styles. Some are not replicable in real life - unless you want to look like a UFO aka Unidentified Fashionable Object! However, many looks can be adapted. You just need to twist them a bit to make them wearable and adjust them to your personal style. Easy isn't it?
No?! You may want an example, my darling, to make my point crystal clear. Then you're all set! To show you how a runaway makeup style can be adapted to a real life one, I selected one specific look: the Alberta Ferretti FW17-18 show's intense makeup style.
Why this one in particular? Because I have a crush on it. And also because it is easy to reproduce a makeup look with powerful lips, but with intense eyes it can be tricky! Eyeshadows are volatile and sometimes complicated to apply according to their texture. So I thought it would be more interesting to focus on that kind of makeup style.
Know that you have a clear example of what a runaway makeup I want to steal. Let's reproduce it, shall we? Here are all the tips and tricks!
CREATE THIS LOOK... STEP BY STEP
First of all, to reproduce this style, you will need: a mascara, a black khôl, a black and a deep red eyeshadows, and a nude lipstick.
STEP 1: The first thing you have to do is your stain. I recommend to do a light and natural one that will just avoid your skin to shine too much.
STEP 2: Easy one! Apply the nude lipstick. The aim is to have nice and smooth lips.
STEP 3: Put the black khôl under the eyes to have an intense look.
STEP 4: Apply the black eyeshadow on the eyelids. You can intensify the color by apply the second layer of eyeshadow.
STEP 5: Here is the trickiest part of this look! The deep red eyeshadow. First of all, apply a first layer in the middle of the eyelid. Once again, to intensify the color you can put a second one. Shade off the vertical stripe of deep red eyeshadow with the tip of your finger. Stop when you the two eyeshadows mix homogeneously.
STEP 6: Finally put some black mascara...
... And you are good to go!

Know your style: Everyone has a different approach of style. You may love classic looks or more grunge ones. Who knows? Just remember to choose the beauty looks according to what appeals you. And this goes for every makeup styles, not only the ones you want to steal from the runaways. Your beauty looks should always enhance you, not hide you or worst make you look like someone else!
Adapt the look to your skin tone: This is probably the most technical part. Your skintone is essential to adapt a look. Why? Because colors look different on the diverse shades of skin. Some may not suit it at all! So you have to be careful. You do not want to look dull or weird. For example, I am a dark brunette with super clear skin - except when I am tanned but this is another story - and I have brown eyes, so almost every color can suits me. I said ALMOST! Greens and violets are not my cup of tea. They easily make me look sick if I am bit tired. We all have no go colors. Reds ... please don't go for red shades. People with olive complexion don't go for too light colors, unless you create a really contrasted look such as a white eyeliner line. May be you are the exception and this recommendation don't match you. But I am sure you know what suits you. Usually the makeup colors that are not adapted to you are the same as the clothes - just so you know!
Make it wearable: Fashion shows look (both clothes and beauty) are over-the-top. We all know that. So when you want to steal a makeup style to wear in real life, especially by day, you better twist it a bit to make it wearable. Nothing complicated or too tricky. Just tone down or take some elements off. For example, when I adapted the Alberta Ferretti beauty style, I suppressed the touch of gold eyeshadows in the inner corner of the eyes. Why? Just to have a cleaner and simpler effect.
Be confident: Going off the beaten tracks require bravery. Yes bravery. In our society, where it is super easy to get bashed, trying something new - and facing the risk to be judge by everyone from the bus driver, to your boss and family - takes a certain form of courage. So if you're willing to do so, I recommend you to try at home and alone the beauty style you want to steal from the runaways. Wear it few hours. Don't just apply and then remove it. Why? The idea is to be confident. So if after few minutes you feel ridiculous, you should probably not wear that style in public. On the contrary, if after few hours you feel gorgeous and confident about it, then go for it. Remember that fashion is a game of experience, you have to try new stuff to know if they suit you. If they don't, it doesn't me that you are ugly. It just means that it is not the true reflection of who you are. Fashion and beauty should always make you feel confident.
